Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express Program
The Gary Sinise Foundation was established under the philanthropic direction of actor Gary Sinise, an advocate of our nation’s defenders for nearly forty years. Our mission is to serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. We do this through a number of national and local programs, funded by the generosity of the Foundation’s 50,000+ donors. These programs—designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities—serve America’s heroes and their loved ones 365 days a year.
Snowball Express, an official initiative under the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Relief & Resiliency programming, serves the children of fallen military heroes through year-round support, resources and events that create a community to learn, grow and make lasting memories with new friends. No matter where these families are in the grieving process, the Gary Sinise Foundation hopes to inspire them to believe anything is possible.
From baseball games, to arts & educational opportunities, to camping trips, these community-driven events allow families to deepen friendships right in their hometowns. These events are essential for children and surviving spouses to build bonds with the only people who can truly understand their loss – each other.
Each December, the Gary Sinise Foundation hosts a five-day therapeutic retreat for 1,750+ children of the fallen and their surviving parent or guardian at Walt Disney World® Resort. Through a blend of fun and inspiring programs, these families can lean on their peers for support during this especially challenging time for grieving families.
